Work description:

After a big storm one of the cranes at the port of Duisburg, Germany collapsed into the river Rhine.  This waterway is very well used, so it was necessary to remove the crane in a fast and safe way so further accidents could be avoided.

With a weight of approx. 265 tons and a height of 50 meters it was needed to use two of our sheerlegs to lift the crane on a barge. For this job we used our Hebo-lift 7 and our Hebo-lift 6.  After we lifted the crane, we placed it onto a big pontoon. One small element which fell off when the crane collapsed into the water, was quickly removed with our own HEBO magnet.

Before we could transport the crane back to Rotterdam on a barge, we had to cut off a little bit of the protruding legs, because the crane was too high for sailing under bridges. We did this with the help of a mobile crane, including man basked.
